Core +

Inspired by the nostalgia of early 2000s dress-up games, Core+ is a low poly customisation game exploring Gen-Z aesthetics and inclusive fashion. Those of us who used websites like ‘Girlsgogames’ and ‘Stardoll’ can reminisce about the colourful world of makeover minigames, often downgraded by a lack of inclusion regarding skin tone, hair texture, hijabi-inclusive options and so on. This project incorporates those nostalgic visuals with current trends and a more diverse customisation range. With inner, secondary, and outer layering options, the player can create an endless amount of style combinations and modesty options for their avatar.
Creating all low poly assets (aside from the base) allowed for a huge wardrobe library, with a huge range of niche sub-styles to explore.  I created all of the visual aspects of the game including concept, modelling, texturing and interface- collaborating with a coder to set it all up in Unity.

Concept sketching the layering order of garments was key for this project, ensuring the layers dont overlap awkwardly and hinder the possible clothing combinations

The garment/asset creation process was all about taking real-life fashion inspiration and simplifying the design down to something suitable for low-poly.

I wanted the interface to reference websites from the early 2000s with their simplicity and cute aesthetic.

There are 8 skin tones, 8 brow colours, 8 eye colours, 8 nail colours and a huge fashion gallery to choose from.
